Mark a task as over and not fulfilled

Let's say I want to make a daily repeat task to allow myself no more than one cigarette a day. The task will show itself new every day (repeat).
I want to be able mark a day as either 'successful' or 'not successful', at the end of each day, not as 'complete'.
Is there a way to do this?

You have to mark a task complete to have the next occurence generated. You could use tags to mark them, but tag the tasks after marking them complete, otherwise I believe the tags would carry forward. Another thing I might consider would be to mark successes with a star.
