Badge notification on ipad

Just thought I would let you know that the iPad doesn't display any badges for tasks to be done. Under the settings I have selected "all tasks" but alas there isn't a 3 like on my iPhone to show how many tasks i still have outstanding on the dock screen. I am using a wifi only iPad, does that make a difference?
