Sync from iPhone to website duplicating recurring tasks

I've been using the Toodledo iPhone app since Nov 2009 and I've loved it. I finally today decided to try signing up for the website so I could modify my tasks from my computer.
However, when I synced from my device to the website it created duplicated of every recurring task.
For example, today's list is something like:
Vacuum
Vacuum
Laundry
Laundry
Take out trash
Take out trash
I tried deleting all tasks on the website and re-syncing, but it just did the same thing.
What's worse is it also added the duplicates as uncompleted all the way back to the date I added them, so now I have a ton of uncompleted tasks dating back to Nov 2009!
This then got synced to my iPhone and now everything is a big, ugly mess! :(
I don't know what happened but it seems my only choice now is to delete everything and start over.
Any idea what went wrong here?
