No alarm sound on reminder

Hi,
I'm new to the Toodledo app, but previously used GotToDo on the Android without a problem.
When I used to set a reminder alarm, my phone would beep at the reminder time. With the iPhone version, no alarm tone is heard, although it does show as an alert on the screen.
I've a feeling it might be something to do with my lack of knowledge of the iPhone, with iOS5 and with the Notifications option within it (I've a iPhone 4s).
Will you please give me specific instructions as to how to set up the sounding alarm on my phone relating to your app, so that when a reminder is displayed on the phone screen it also makes a sound.

Hi again,
The reasons why no sounds were being heard was that the silence button on the side of the phone was activated!
So please ignore the above posting.
