Alerts not working on iPhone with iOS5

Since updating to iOS5, alerts have not been working on my iPhone. I'll set a reminder time for a task but the alert never comes. Is there something I need to adjust to get the alerts to work? "Task alarms come from device" is selected in the settings. Thanks.
