Did the tasklist sorting for "view by context and due-date" change? Or am I mistaken? A month ago it seemed that "view by context" would sort the tasks by importance and now it sorts them by due date.

You can set your own sort options for each view. Importance is the default that they all start out with, but when you change your primary sort criterion for any of the main views, it is saved, and used the next time you use that view. I'm guessing you sorted by Due Date recently (could have even been accidental by clicking on the due date column heading), but you can easily change it back with "sort" near the top right of the screen.
