Android app starting scroll position

It seems that whenever I start the Android app on my Samsung Tab S tablet that it always scrolls so that the item with the furthest out due date displays at the bottom of the screen instead displaying the task due soonest at the top. I have the sort set to due date. So the first thing I have to do is to scroll to the top of the list.
Is there any way around this? |

That is strange. Is the currently selected task the one at the bottom of the screen?

No, it is not. This happens even when I start the app after closing it.
