Keyboard navigation in new layout

I just switched to the new layout. I use the keyboard navigation all the time, as in hitting "tab, tab, tab, tab" and then typing "tom" to move that task to tomorrow and then "tab tab tab" again until I get to the next field I want to edit. This doesn't seem to work in the new layout. I have to click to edit fields and then hit enter. Am I missing something? I hope that functionality isn't gone for good.

In the new layout, you have to press "space bar" or "return" to enter edit mode when you have a field selected.
