In addition to things like autohotkey, mentioned in that thread, there is a program called ActiveWords that can automatically generate dates. I will type the letters "m", "d" and "y" after this colon: 08/24/2009 Pretty neat, huh? It is not exactly cheap software, but it does a lot more than just that, and they have a 60 day free trial. Also, Toodledo just made an addin for ActiveWords which is how I found out about it: http://www.toodledo.com/forums/1/2832/0/plugin-for-activewords.html Anyway, not to take away from the suggestion, but I thought I'd mention that.
