Cancel keyboard shortcuts?

Is there an easy way to cancel a keyboard shortcut? For instance, if you enter "n" to add a task but want to cancel and get back to navigating your tasks, can this be done without either tabbing through until "Cancel" is highlighted or clicking somewhere with the mouse?

Some other nice keyboard shortcuts would be to be able to move up and down between tasks and check them as complete
|
